Nauvoo Study Program Curriculum:
Since we are a very new school, it will of necessity take several years before our curriculum plans can blossom into a complete university program with all courses nationally accredited and transferrable to other institutions. During this development phase we are not yet able to offer degrees and are defining ourselves appropriately as the Nauvoo Study Program (NSP). Students may meet their own personal educational objectives by choosing courses from among four accreditation levels which we anticipate will be available during the 2010-2011 academic year.
- Currently Accredited Courses must be taken online. We have a recommended list of online basic General Education courses from nearby Carl Sandburg College and Brigham Young University Independent Study. Faculty mentoring and student study groups may be available for these courses.
- University Preparation Courses in math, reading and writing will be offered on our campus for students who are tested below university entrance standards. Such remedial courses would of course not be granted university credit anywhere. These Nauvoo Study Program courses will be graded to help students stay concentrated during the semester, but success in these subjects will be measured primarily by satisfactory scores on national tests (ACT, COMPASS, and others) administered at the end of each semester.
- Enrichment Courses asppropriate to our Nauvoo Study Program are also available. These include a required LDS Church Institute class, our highly recommended Freshman "Quality Search" Seminar, the Nauvoo University Community Choir and singing instruction classes, basic Spanish, and classes in Family History and Nauvoo LDS History. Credits for these courses are probably not transferrable to other institutions.
- Accredited General Education Courses which may be added as additional volunteer faculty join us who can be certified as adjunct faculty by already accredited institutions.
