Vivien Robison

Vivien Robison: Vivien Robison in her graduating year as a vocal performance major at Brigham Young University (1967), sang both the demanding coloratura title role in Lakme and the favorite lyric role of Mimi in La Boheme in BYU main-stage performances. She briefly pursued graduate study in Vocal Performance at the University of Washington where she also sang small roles with Seattle Opera touring company. Since, she has sung semi-professionally in community settings while raising six children. From 1996 to 2002 she sang as a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. She retired in 2006 from Brigham Young University as Adjunct Professor of Voice having taught there for more than 35 years. Vivien’s cumulative average Voice Progress Scores have proven the strongest of all other BYU part-time instructors during those years and stronger than all but two senior voice faculty members. Her students consistently sang leads in BYU main-stage opera productions and have received numerous awards including one National Metropolitan Opera National Council winner in 2001. Others have been admitted to prominent graduate schools. For more than a decade she was also organizer and producer of the Robison Singers, a semi-professional double quartet.
